Google Duo Touches 1 Billion Download Milestone

Google’s video calling app ‘Google Duo’ has touched the milestone of being downloaded for 1 billion times.

After being launched in 2016, the app had been downloaded 500 million times till June 2018. That means the app has been downloaded equal more times in just next 6 months, which is incredible.

In the 2016 annual developer conference, Google launched Google Duo along with another connecting app ‘Google Allo’. Though Allo couldn’t make any significant impression among the users and pulled out from the market within months, the story of Duo was quite opposite. From the very beginning it successfully managed to grab a strong position in a market where giant competitors like WhatsApp, Viber, Imo were at the driver seats.

As a product of Google, the Duo app is usually pre-installed in android devices. Google Duo is the second such pre-installed app after ‘Subway Surfers’ to be downloaded 1 billion times.

But why users accepted Google Duo so massively? The picture and sound quality of Duo is more clear than many other regular video calling apps, It has smart display. If Duo is used in iPad, Android tablet and Chromebook, users will enjoy some extra features. Mainly for these strong issues, Google Duo could throw a good challenge to notable video calling applications around it.
